Overview of Bengaluru Institute of Technology

Established in 1979, Bangalore Institute of Technology aims to provide top-notch education in technology, contributing positively to society. The institute has achieved significant excellence in technical education, supported by the Rajya Vokkaligara Sangha, dedicated staff, and enthusiastic students. BIT fosters an environment that encourages a thirst for knowledge.

The college emphasizes the holistic development of its students. BIT has always been at the forefront of technological advancements, notably being the first institution in Karnataka to offer a comprehensive degree in Computer Science and Engineering. Over the years, BIT has adapted its curriculum to include various emerging fields, currently offering 13 undergraduate programs, 6 postgraduate programs, and 13 research and development centers affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University.

BIT is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and listed under the University Grants Commission (UGC) as per the 1956 act. It has been accredited by the NBA for 9 undergraduate programs and the MCA, and is ranked in the Band of 251-300 by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).

With an intake capacity of 1,452 students, BIT houses 13 research and development centers, each acting as a center of excellence within its department. These include incubation centers, idea labs, and skill development facilities that support interdisciplinary research in collaboration with various organizations like Bosch and Mistral.

The faculty at BIT comprises 262 qualified educators, with 100 holding Ph.D. degrees and 56 currently pursuing them. Approximately 60% of the faculty have been part of BIT for over two decades. The institution also boasts a dedicated support staff of 277 members.
