Graphic Era Deemed to be University (GEU) is the realization of the vision of its founder, Prof. (Dr.) Kamal Ghanshala, who aimed to revolutionize the educational landscape. In 1993, with just twenty-nine thousand rupees and immense determination, he began his journey by establishing the Graphic Era Computer Centre, focusing on software development and computer graphics training. This initiative laid the foundation for the Graphic Era Institute of Technology (GEIT), founded in 1997.

Situated in the heart of Dehradun, bordered by Rajaji National Park and the Clement Town Cantonment, the GEU campus is a blend of natural beauty and modern infrastructure. In August 2022, it earned an ‘A+’ grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), building on its previous ‘A’ grade. By December 2022, GEU became the only university in the region to have seven NBA-accredited programs, including Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biotechnology, and MBA. In 2022, GEU also pioneered Online Degree Programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, becoming the first university in Uttarakhand to offer UGC/AICTE-approved online education. In June 2023, GEU was ranked All-India Rank 62 in Engineering, All-India Rank 65 in Management, All-India Rank 55 in the University category, and All-India Rank 89 overall by the MHRD’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). This ranking marks the university’s consistent placement among the top 100 universities in India for four consecutive years.
