The Government of Punjab assisted in the establishment of the 15th Indian Institute of Management (IIM), which is located in Amritsar. The institution was officially established when the IIM Amritsar Society was registered on July 27, 2015, followed by the formation of the IIM Amritsar Board of Governance & Society on October 14, 2015. The first batch of students for the Post Graduate Program in Management (PGPM) was admitted in August 2015.
IIM Amritsar benefits from its location in Amritsar, a city famous for the Golden Temple and the Wagah Border. The current campus operates from the Punjab Institute of Technology, situated approximately 10 km from the airport and 5 km from the railway station.

Admission Criteria for 2023
The admission process for IIM Amritsar’s MBA program consists of two main stages: shortlisting candidates for the Personal Interview (PI) and the final selection of candidates based on various factors.
Eligibility: Candidates are shortlisted based on CAT 2022 performance. Applicants must have a minimum sectional and overall percentile to be considered for further rounds.
Selection Process: After the initial shortlisting, candidates are evaluated based on a composite score considering several factors:

- 12th Board Marks: 5%
- Gender Diversity: 10%
