Overview

Maulana Azad Medical College was established in 1958 and is named after Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, a prominent Indian freedom fighter and educationist. Affiliated with DU, the college offers UG, PG, and diploma programs to budding medicos. 

MAMC also offers postgraduate courses in various medical specialties, including MD, MS, and Diploma programs. The admission process for these courses is based on the NEET-PG entrance exam and counseling.

The college is attached to a 1500-bed hospital, which other than providing quality healthcare services to patients, also helps the students practice as they study at the college. The hospital has a wide range of departments. The medical college is also associated with Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Science, Lok Nayak Hospital, GB Pant Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research, and Guru Nanak Eye Centre. The students can also utilize these institutions to practice their skills and gain experience.

For its excellent academics and student performance, the college was ranked 3rd in the country by India Today and Times of India. The National Institute of Ranking Framework also ranked MAMC Delhi as 23rd in India.

MAMC is located in the north of New Delhi, near the Delhi Gate area. Students can go to the college by their own vehicles, and even use public transport, as the major landmarks near the college are Jama Masjid, Red Fort and Chandni Chowk.

Seat Detail of Maulana Azad Medical College

The college has a total of 250 seats for its MBBS program, which is the undergraduate medical course offered at the institute. The admission process is based on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Eligible candidates who meet the cut-off criteria are invited for counseling and admission to the program.

Out of 250 seats, 15% are filled through the entrance examination conducted by CBSE, 85% are filled as per Delhi University norms and 6 seats are filled through Government of India nominees.
